Timeline

The Timeline shows apps and breakdowns as time blocks on horizonatal layers similar to the UI of a non-linear video editor. Every app and breakdown in its own row. Open it with the Timeline button in the Home dashboard header.

Timeline basics

• Pan — hold Space or middle-click and drag.
• Zoom — Option/Ctrl + scroll.
• Lane height — Cmd/Alt + scroll.
• Change day — ←/→ arrow keys, or the date picker in the top bar.
• Jump to Now — the button in the bottom bar returns you to the live present time.

Activity lane

When activity categories are in use, an Activity lane paints category bands across the day. You can minimize it like other lanes, and the device filter still applies.

Toolbar toggles

• Idle Regions — Show or hide the shaded idle stretches.
• Merge Blocks — Join adjacent blocks of the same app into one continuous run for a decluttered, high-level read. Merged totals are approximate; hovering a merged block lists every tag inside it. Runs with different tagss, stays separate when merging is off.
• Cursor — Toggles the timeline cursor on or off.

Disputing tracking errors

Some idle regions and time blocks are capable of being disputed by right-click and selecting dispute idle time or dispute time block:

• Dispute idle time — For gaps where you were actually present (in a meeting or reading a document without physically interacting with the device). Available only when the same app or breakdown borders both sides of the idle gap; those gaps show a small bridge glyph in the corner to indicate dispute is availble.
• Dispute time block — Removes a short block (3 minutes or less) that is surrounded by idle regions. Sometimes a locked device can wake up briefly overnight and log a short amount of time. This function is to help combat those edge cases.

Tags on the Timeline

Tagged blocks appear with colored outlines around them. The Tags panel on the right sidebar of the timeline lists your tags. Clicking an active tag highlights the blocks they are applied to.

Blocks can be selected individually or in bulk by draggign a box and highlighting them. You can right-click and select assign tag to assign tags to blocks directly in the timeline. You’ll be asked whether to tag these blocks only or also keep tagging new activity so the tags affect new entries to the app or breakdown rather than just to that specific time block. Right-click a timeline row label to Solo it and isolate it from the rest of the timeline rows.

Events

Events are your own annotations on the day. Mark a meeting, a deadline, or a gym break. Right-click anywhere on the timeline to add one at that time; drag to give it a specific duration. From the Events panel you can show or hide them, dim them, and minimize individual events to thin bars when a busy day gets crowded. Events also appear on the Calendar.
