Section titled “Privacy”What does Vetroscope record?
Section titled “What does Vetroscope record?”Which app is in front, its window title (that’s where breakdowns like project and site names come from), and what media is playing — sampled about every 30 seconds while you’re active. That’s the whole list. No keystrokes, no screenshots, no clipboard, no file contents. Anything on an ignore list is never recorded at all.
Is Vetroscope a keylogger?
Section titled “Is Vetroscope a keylogger?”No. It never sees what you type — it reads which app and window is in front, not their contents. Everything it stores sits in a local database on your machine that you can inspect, export, and delete.
Does my data leave my machine?
Section titled “Does my data leave my machine?”Only if you turn something on, and you choose what:
- Nothing enabled — everything stays local. The app works fully offline.
- Sync — data mirrors to Vetroscope Cloud or your own Home Sync server. Sensitive fields are encrypted on your device before upload. By default you use sign-in recovery; optional end-to-end encryption needs a recovery code. See Your encryption key.
- Chat and Quick Search AI — when you ask a question, the aggregated results needed to answer it are sent to the AI model. Never in the background, never for training.
- Activity categories — when AI classification runs, unknown app names and browser project or site labels may be sent for a category suggestion. Successful results may also update an anonymous shared catalog (app name and optional project only — no account identity).
- Google Calendar — only if you connect it; separate from activity sync.
- Notes, the Local API, and the MCP stay on your machine (Local API and MCP never call the internet).
Can Vetroscope (the company) see what I do?
Section titled “Can Vetroscope (the company) see what I do?”No. Without sync there’s nothing on our servers at all. With sync, sensitive fields are encrypted on your device before upload. Under optional end-to-end encryption, only a device with your recovery code can unlock them — we never have that code. Under sign-in recovery, signing in on a new device can restore access. Sync and encryption

Section titled “What is sign-in recovery vs end-to-end encryption?”Sign-in recovery (default): data is encrypted before upload; on a new device, sign in to unlock sync. End-to-end encryption (optional): you must keep an encryption key (recovery code). Lose the key and every unlocked device, and the synced copy cannot be recovered. Details: Your encryption key.
What happens if I lose my encryption key?
Section titled “What happens if I lose my encryption key?”That only applies when end-to-end encryption is on. If you’re still signed in anywhere, view the key there (Settings → Sync) and save it properly. If every device is gone, the synced copy is unrecoverable — by design. Your local data is unaffected.
Do I need Pro for Home Sync?
Section titled “Do I need Pro for Home Sync?”No — Home Sync is included with the lifetime license. Pro adds the hosted service (Vetroscope Cloud) and AI Chat / Quick Search.
What happens when my trial ends?
Section titled “What happens when my trial ends?”Tracking pauses and paid features lock, but every view keeps working on your existing data — nothing is deleted. Buy a license (or Pro) to resume. Details: Plans and trial.
Can I move my license to another computer?
Section titled “Can I move my license to another computer?”Yes. On the old machine, Settings → Account → Remove license from this device, then activate on the new one. If the old machine is gone, contact support.
Do other people on my Home Sync server need licenses?
Section titled “Do other people on my Home Sync server need licenses?”Yes — the server is included with your license, but each person syncing to it licenses their own Vetroscope.
Can I get my data out?
Section titled “Can I get my data out?”Use Reports to export a PDF document or a CSV for spreadsheets, and the Local API for code. It’s your data, stored on your machine.
