Home

Home is the first tab in the Vetroscope tray window. It shows how much you’ve worked and which apps the time went to.

The top of Home

The big number at the top is your active time for the day you’ve picked. It counts up live while you work. Below it:

• Day picker — Today by default. Switch to Yesterday, one of the last few days, or pick any past day from the calendar.
• Tag filter — show only time with one tag (and the tags nested under it).
• Device filter — if you sync more than one computer, show one computer’s time or all of them together.
• Now Playing — a small moving waveform that shows what music or video is playing, and on which computer and app — for example “Now playing on Studio-Mac in Google Chrome”. If you have more than one computer, it lists what’s playing on each.
• Expand/Collapse Breakdowns — open or close every app’s breakdowns at once.

The buttons along the top

These buttons stay at the top of the window on every tab, Settings included:

• Search — ask a quick question about your time.
• Calendar — your time on a calendar.
• Timeline — your day hour by hour.
• Report — build a PDF or CSV report.
• Tags — create and manage tags.
• Events — the events you’ve added for today, this week, or this month, with arrows to go back and forward. A red dot means today has events.
• Notes — your notes.
• Alerts — your alerts and their history.

Reports, events, and notes start on the day picked on Home. The pin button at the top right keeps the tray window open and in front of other windows.

Your apps

Below the top section is every app you’ve used on the day you’ve picked, with its time and a colored bar showing its share. Click an app to see its breakdowns — the projects, sites, or songs inside it.

• Time that’s being recorded right now is shown in a blue badge with a slow shimmer.
• Hover an app’s bar to see its percentage. For apps with background time (like music), it shows active and background time separately.
• If an app is being tracked on another of your computers, a small laptop or desktop icon appears next to its blue time. Hover it to see which computer.
• An app that’s playing music or video is lit up in its own color with a gentle wave behind it.

Right-click an app or breakdown to:

• Tag it — see Tags.
• Ignore it — see Ignoring apps and sites.
• Customize it — change its name, icon, or color. See Customizing apps.

Click an app’s icon to open its stats: its history, trends, and the time in each breakdown.

Goals on Home

Your goals show their progress near the top of Home, so you can always see how close you are to today’s target.
