Sync overview
Vetroscope is fully local by default — sync is opt-in. When you enable it, your entries, tags, goals, events, reminders, settings and customizations mirror across your devices, end-to-end encrypted.
Sync targets
Section titled “Sync targets”A sync target is a place your data mirrors to. There are two kinds:
- Vetroscope Cloud — our hosted service. Nothing to run; requires Vetroscope Pro. See Vetroscope Cloud.
- Home Sync — a server you host on your own hardware; data never leaves your network. Included with a license. See Home Sync.
Add targets in Settings → Sync → Add sync target. You can use both at once — they sync in parallel — or disable a target without removing it.
Whichever target you use, sensitive fields are encrypted on your device before upload with your encryption key; no server — ours or yours — can read them.
When syncing happens
Section titled “When syncing happens”Automatically: at launch, every few minutes while running, shortly after new activity, and when the window regains focus. Sync Now in Settings → Sync forces a round immediately.
Reading the status
Section titled “Reading the status”Each target shows its state — Synced (with “just now” or “N m ago”), Syncing… with live progress (“Pushing to…” / “Pulling from…”), Offline, or Sync error with the reason. End-to-end encrypted confirms the encryption key is active.
Each target’s ⋯ menu has Show details, Reconnect (sign in again without re-setup), Remove target, and — behind an encryption-key check — the destructive Wipe and re-push. If a status won’t clear, see Sync troubleshooting.
